By the Spring of 2014, we were settled into a new home. It was another duplex rental, but we had a nice yard area to work with and a landlord that was supportive of us digging out all the weeds and replacing them with more enjoyable plant-life. I had the garden fervor restored and was eager to get as much food and flowers out of the space we had.

I had grown many plants from seed, which was not something I had done for a few years. It was nice get back to those roots (pun intended). I also put in some fruit bushes and more long-term perennials, hoping to add some useful foliage to the yard.
June
I had started using cover cloths to keep creatures away from tender lettuces. It was working quite well, giving us near perfect lettuce in an area that was somewhat ripe with pests.
