Enelis Timeline

The Age of Dragons

??? – Dragons are created as the first immortal sentient beings of the new world of Enelis.
??? – Nembral and Solarus transforms the dragons, creating the chromatic and metallic dragons, respectively. This makes the dragons mortal (though still very long lived).
??? – Chromatic and metallic dragons ruled the world; the land, the sea, and the air.
??? – Enis creates the Firstborn, who appear in many various places on Enelis.
??? – Nembral and Solarus transform the Firstborn on the continents of Nastus and Alarus, turning them into the dohkan and high-men respectively.
??? – Furious with the gods intervening on her creation, Enis creates the Wall of the Divines, which forever separates Enelis from direct intervention from the gods.
??? – The Firstborn begin to take affinity with their surroundings, becoming the many various humanoid races.
-40,000 G.R. – The ancient firstborn-elves of Ularin discover their innate use of magic and begin gaining a foothold against the ruling dragons as they develop their talents.
-15,000 G.R. – The elves expand as many small tribes throughout the eastern coasts of Ularin, slowly defeating the regional dragon overlords.

The Rise of Humanoids

-9000 G.R. – Many elven empires rule on the continent of Ularin diminishing the already failing might of dragons. The stelmar (star elves) empire of Astrearvis rules the eastern coasts. The sulmar (sun elves) empire of Magenaarvis ruled the northern Aegis Forest, constructing cities of crystal. The ethmar (moon elves) tribes remained scattered throughout the river valleys between the mountains and the coast. Likewise, the thunmar (wood/twilight elves) tribes were scattered throughout the southern Aegis Forest on both sides of the mountains. The Tenearvis empire of shadmar (dark elves) ruled throughout the eastern mountains. The serpentfolk empire of Ssithis dominates the southern jungles of Ularin. The lizardfolk dominate in many clans along the deserts and tropical forests of the Xalaca peninsula. These empires try to expand their dominion over the other loose humanoid tribes and against each other. Meanwhile, humans begin to appear as loose tribes in the northern and southern parts of the
continent. Orc tribes gain some resistance against the serpentfolk of the southern marshes. Halflings remain hidden in small bands throughout the eastern hills along with the gnomish tribes of the south. Gnolls rule over the southern savannahs and deserts as goblinoids control much of the rocky southern coasts.
-7000 G.R. – The dwarven tribes led by Thaladin Kalgeddin flee the growing might of giants from their unknown homeland and travel through the Endless Road of Shadows and appear in the northern tip of Ularin in a mountain near the frozen pole.
-6500 G.R. – The southbound dwarves reach the eastern mountains of Ularin and fight against the shadmar for control of the northern portion, founding the dwarven lands of Bondland (Promised Land, in the dwarven language).
-6300 G.R. – The dragons wage war with the Astrearvis Empire leaving it largely in ruins. The other elven tribes unite to form the Kingdom of Four Crowns and push back against the dragon scourge. Defeated, most dragons leave Ularin as the humanoid races expand. Many find their way to Alarus and the mythical Terra Draconia.
-6000 G.R. – The dohkan begin to develop a powerful sorcerous heritage in conjunction with contact with the newly arrived chromatic dragons. Meanwhile, the enigmatic metallic dragons remain aloof on Alarus.
-5000 G.R. – The metallic dragons finally make themselves known to the high-men of Alarus and begin to teach them how to tap into their innate magic in the hopes to counteract the growing
might of dohkan sorcery.
-4150 G.R. – The dohkan tribes begin to outgrow their homeland of Nastus and begin to learn of the high-men to the far north. Meanwhile, the high-men expand southward as the various tribes continue to fight for control of key regions.

The Rise of the Nomenir, 1st Age

-4030 G.R. (-20 N.R.) – The Draconia Augorium is written on Alarus by the young dragon-prophet Fortis Nomen, chosen of Numenor. Fortis spent his young life studying with the platinum dragons of the high mountains, learning the ways of the dragon-gods. He begins to share the wisdom of the dragons with the high-men.
-4050 G.R. (1 N.R.) – The first Nomen Kingdom is created by the paladin-king Fortis Nomen who unites the scattered tribes of high-men. The kingdom thrives for many generations, expanding across the northern reaches of Alarus, spreading the worship of the dragon-gods.
-3950 G.R. (100 N.R.) – The first college of magic is founded in Numenurbis, the capitol of the Nomen Kingdom. Draconic sorcery is slowly formalized into wizardry and the magical arts.
-3900 G.R. (150 N.R.) – Legions of arathians appear in the southern deserts of Ularin from some unknown world and quickly enslave the lizardfolk tribes forming the first Empire of Arathkelsara.
-3850 G.R. (200 N.R.) – The War of Virtues begins as the dohkan armies expand from the Isle of Nastus and march northward into Nomen territory, razing and destroying all that comes into contact with the marching forces. A long bloody war is fought between the virtuous high-men and the malicious dohkan.
-3750 G.R. (300 N.R.) – The Kalavar Hammer Confederacy is formed by the united dwarven clans of Bondland to protect themselves from elves and other invaders.
-3713 G.R. (312 N.R.) – The Nomenir defeat the final dohkan army at the Battle of Perdo- Magnus. The dohkan are forced from Alarus back to the wastelands of Nastus.
-3685 G.R. (350 N.R.) – High King Pelgarus Nomen, great-grandson of Fortis Nomen, steps down as monarch and converts the Nomen Kingdom into the Republic of Nomena. The republic prospers for many centuries as the Nomenir continue to develop their technology and magical skills.
-3785 G.R. (450 N.R.) – The Dwarven-Elven wars begin on Ularin as the expanding Kalavar Hammer Confederacy encroaches on elven territories. Humans have now filled the void left by the extinct star elves and cover the eastern coasts in agricultural villages. Human tribes are recruited by both sides during the war. Four human cultures dominate Ularin during this period: The noradrie dominated the northern reaches of the cold coasts. The amarie expanded in the fertile valleys and riverways where the Astraervis Empire once thrived. The toldrie expanded into the southern hills, displacing the halflings who dwelt there. The seldrie of the south took to the sea and expanded onto the many islands of the Selicean Sea, battling with the expanding xayadrie people.
-3560 G.R. (675 N.R.) – The Treaty of Arrow and Axe is signed, putting an end to the Elven- Dwarven wars. The first recorded orc horde, seemingly led by a dragon overlord, marches northward decimating the thunmar civilization on the eastern side of the mountains along with the toldrie and amarie as it marches northward. The dwarves and elves unite against this force of evil and decimate the army. The orcs scatter throughout the eastern coasts. The majority of these orcs end up in the northern rocky badlands of Hashan as the noradrie push them out of their territory. The shadmar elves and Dogarun clan of dwarves are banished and sealed into the Deep- Underground with powerful sulmar magic, for the assassination of the elven Emperor and dwarven High Magistrate and also for consorting with demons.
-3535 G.R. (700 N.R.) – The elven and dwarven empires begin to shrink over the centuries and men begin to overtake the eastern coasts. Many human clans dominate one area or another for various periods of times, but no lasting civilizations emerge during this time.
-3185 G.R. (1050 N.R.) – The Arathkelsaran Empire expands eastward, displacing the gnolls and goblinoids. The gnolls separate into two main tribes, those that stayed were enslaved by the arathians, while those that fled eastward and fought against the seldrie tribes and remnants of the serpentfolk tribes in the southern jungles. The goblinoids were scattered throughout Ularin, but many fled into the Golbez mountains.
-2935 G.R. (1300 N.R.) – The Xaya civilization of xayadrie people conquer most of the Selicean islands and reach the southern coasts of Ularin. They spread northward into the Firemyst jungles of the southern peninsula. The new Xaya civilization remains in constant war with the serpentfolk civilizations that inhabit the area.
-2063 G.R. (2172 N.R.) – The Kingdom of Amaria is formed in the Astonian valleys as trade prospers between men, elves, and dwarves.
-1982 G.R. (2253 N.R.) – The Day of Starfall befalls Alarus when a huge shard of Nembral strikes the continent, destroying Numenurbis and much of the Nomenir civilization. In the wake of the catastrophe, another army of dohkan marches onto Alarus to eradicate the Nomenir once and for all. Following the prophecy of the Draconia Augorium, the Nomenir took to the sea and fled their devastated homeland across the great Erean Ocean towards Ularin.
-1981 G.R. (2254 N.R.) – The Nomenir refugees arrive in the Golden Bay. Quinius Mentus secures safety for the new refugees from the Amarie people by defeating a local red dragon tyrant. King Graith Brentellin of Amaria grants the refugees lands the contested northern portion of his kingdom, which pits the refugees against the noradrie clans in the area. The Nomenir bring the first horses, to the new continent, which spread throughout the northern and southern plains.

The Nomen Renaissance, 2nd Age

-1935 G.R. (2300 N.R.) (1 A.R.) – Aureusurbis (City of Gold, Goldwall) is founded on the Golden bay by the Nomenir refugees. The city is formed as a republic, the first on Ularin, and grants access to all races and tribes for free trade. The small republic of Auremarvum then expands northward, displacing many noradrie clans that do not wish to integrate in the new
republic.
-1815 G.R. (120 A.R.) – The Amari-Nomen Alliance is formed as the outlying noradrie to the north and toldrie clans to the south cause increasing trouble for the united people. This connection grows over the years as the amarie learn the technology and magic of the nomendrie (high-men). Many interracial relationships develop, forming a long-living nobility among the
kingdoms.
-1800 G.R. (135 A.R.) – The Xaya civilization collapses throughout the southern coasts and Selicean islands. The remaining xayadrie people intermarry with the seldrie people to become the modern selicean human group.
-1785 G.R. (150 A.R.) – The Nomen Republic is formed as Amaria and Auremarvum officially become one sovereignty continuing its trade with the elves and dwarves in the region.
-1385 G.R. (550 A.R.) – The Republic is beset by constant raids from the north and south. Additionally, orcs hordes become common. Many cities on the edges of the republic are razed and destroyed.
-1375 G.R. (560 A.R.) – Emperor Thalius Auremtus restructures the republic into the Nomen Empire using the military might of the new empire to expand and conquer their foes.
-1360 G.R. (575 A.R.) – The Nomen Empire successfully pushes the noradrie into the lands north of the Dulerrun River.
-1340 G.R. (595 A.R.) – The Nomen Empire expands southward into the Orlean plains, pushing the toldrie southward beyond the Amadea River. The new lands become the bread-basket of the Empire, allowing for more military recruitment and further expansion.
-1280 G.R. (655 A.R.) – The Empire expands again southward into the Kalruan plains, this time many toldrie clans are absorbed, however, many clans also flee into the Kolomna Hills to face off against the wild elves there.
-1220 G.R. (715 A.R.) – The Empire tries to expand deeper into the forests and jungles of the south, but are then caught in a fierce war against the remaining serpentfolk empire in the jungles, the gnolls of the forests, and the orcs on the plains and hills.
-1100 G.R. (835 A.R.) – The Empire manages to defeat its foes, but not without greatly
weakening itself. It manages to connect a trade road with the Arathians but soon war erupts
between the two empires.
-790 G.R. (1145 A.R.) – The Toldan Rebellion begins in the Strass region (modern Kalrua) of the empire. The Nomen Empire begins to collapse from pressures on all sides, without and within. From the noradrie in the north who make frequent raids, rebellious toldrie in the south who refuse to work, economic problems from decreasing road security from bandits and likewise on the sea from selicean pirates, and finally from a growing decadency in the ruling aristocracy as the blood of the Nomenir dwindles. Also, the war with the Arathkelsaran Empire continues in what is now Korenell and on the seas.
-585 G.R. (1350 A.R.) – Eshlien peaceably secedes from the Empire forming the Confederate City-states of Eshlien as the eshmar (half-elves) diplomatically earn their right to self-governance. The Arathkelsaran Empire is pushed back by a war with the goblins of the Golbez mountains, allowing the Empire to leave the war front.
-523 G.R. (1412 A.R.) – The southern regions of the Empire are lost to regional generals and
aristocrats as they claim dominion over small regions. War between these leaders ignite dissolving the influence of the Empire in these regions. The Empire is reduced to what is now Hopesdawn, Angmar, Astonia, and Verland.
-400 G.R. (1535 A.R.) – The Empire dissolves into many smaller kingdoms. However, the metropolis of Goldwall maintains itself, controlling the lands of what is now Angmar and Hopesdawn.

The Rise of Nations, 3rd Age

1 G.R. (1935 A.R.) – The Republic of Goldwall returns to a democratic government as a resurgence of old culture emerges in the metropolis. The lands of Angmar break apart into warring city-states, leaving Goldwall itself as the last remnant of the Nomen Empire. Many small feudal kingdoms control the eastern coasts, occasionally changing hands in small wars. Regional leaders are in a constant struggle for power and trade outside of Goldwall has diminished greatly.
8 G.R. – *The free city of Kulderon is founded in the caldera of a dormant volcano in the southern reaches of the Dragon Peaks.
122 G.R. – Draken Pendragon, Prince of Gerdall (in what is now Loyolla) leads the crusades against the Empire of Arathkelsara and claims the domain of Korenell from the arathians and goblinoids.
123 G.R. – The Demon Wars begin in the Aegis Forest as the shadmar return to the surface with a demonic army. The Enaarvis capital, Elienspar, is besieged. The demons are defeated by the elves and the shadmar that have renounced their evil leaders. A band of heroes led by Prince Halsuel Liamaer closes the gates to the plane of Xellenthor ending the demon-wars. The shadmar are again welcomed into the new Kingdom of Four Crowns ruled by Queen Nemarian. The shadmar retake their ancient fortress of Valraen. Much of the elven forests are burned and destroyed, taking many centuries to recover.
130 G.R. – The Last War begins. The armies of the dohkan appear on the shores of Verland and spread across the eastern coasts creating devastation in their wake. A group of heroes embark on a mission to find the ancient Nomenir gems of power, scattered throughout Ularin. They are guided by a prophet who foresees a coming danger to the eastern coasts.
133 G.R. – The war effort goes poorly for the men of the eastern coasts. The many small kingdoms eventually band together to drive the dohkan northward, but are barely able to keep the enemy from overtaking them. The armies begin to gather at Goldwall.
134 G.R. – The Great Cataclysm occurs. The City of Goldwall is destroyed in an instant by a dohkan sorcerer who utilizes a large shard of Nembral. The armies of men are destroyed with the city. The armies of Astonia, last to arrive, find the devastation and regroup at the small Angmarian fortress of Hopekeep. The dohkan send all their forces to besiege the fortress in a siege that lasts many weeks. An army of elves and dwarves then charge in from the south as the men of the fortress make one last charge to the overwhelming enemy. It is then that Bryman Hethroth, riding a white dragon, and his recently united clans of the noradrie, charge into the dohkan breaking the siege and ending the war. The remaining dohkan are scattered and mostly pushed into the orc lands of Hashan. The dohkan inter-breed with the northern orcs, forming the gray-orc lineage. Fear of magic becomes pervasive throughout the eastern coasts, causing those who practice the art to become outcasts and magical institutions are abandoned.
135 G.R. (1 H.R.) – The city of Hopesdawn forms around the fortress of Hopekeep to house the many refugees left in the wake of the war. The city declares itself a democratic city in remembrance to Goldwall.
137 G.R. – The Kingdom of Astonia, ruled by the Alangara family, is officially recognized as the small kingdoms remain united after the war.
145 G.R. – The Kingdom of Aelgard is officially recognized as the Hethroth family brings honor and nobility to the barbarian clans. Racism towards the noradrie declines greatly over the years.
152 G.R. – The Cult of Bael gains prominence in the Kalruan city of Dracea as the cult makes their first communion with the devil-lord known as Bael.
268 G.R. – The Kingdom of Verland is united by the Urgomen family, formed from smaller kingdoms, to compete economically with Astonia and Eshlien.
322 G.R. – The Clan-Kings of Krungar secede from Aelgard returning to their traditional warrior culture.
372 G.R. – The Angmar Principalities unite to protect their domains, as the larger nation states expand their territories. The Kalruan barons do likewise, forming a loose confederacy, the Confederate Baronies of Kalrua.
402 G.R. – The Kingdom of Loyolla is officially recognized as the remaining Pendragon family unites the southern baronies under one crown.
424 G.R. – The Three Kingdoms of Migara unites in a loose confederacy, while competing among themselves heavily for trade and naval dominance of the Inner Sea.
602 G.R. – The Cult of Bail claims theocratic control over Kalrua as the devil-lord is able to cross the barrier into Enelis. Many of the barons sign on to this growing religion, in the hopes of growing their own power, while a few remain vigilant of the new living-god and his intentions. Many devils begin to appear in Kalruan culture as Bail brings many denizens from the Nine Hells.
625 G.R. – The united Baronies of Kalrua declares war on the Kingdom of Verland while simultaneously igniting a covert war with the Kingdom of Loyolla. Non-humans are given limited access to Kalrua and must wear a visible badge to indicate their lower social status.
643 G.R. – An army of undead, men, and devils attacks the Loyollan city of Brindonford as the beginning of the War of Devils. The war wages for many years as the Kalruans take much territory in Verland and parts of eastern Loyolla. Brindonford is never overtaken, however. The war helps to dissipate the predominate fear of magic as many wizards appear to aid in the war effort.
655 G.R. – A joint effort of Astonia, Verland, and Loyolla manages to get a majority of the Kalruan barons to sign a peace treaty, ending the War of Devils. Kalrua’s economy has greatly suffered under the war and is trying to rebuild itself, even forgoing the badge law in its port cities to bring more trade. The Cult of Bael loses much influence over the barons, reducing Bael’s military dominion to little more than Dracea itself, while his religious influence remains a pervasive part of Kalruan culture, particularly the hierarchical structure.
668 G.R. – *A group of heroes called the Eternal Embers are formed in the city of Kulderon.
670 G.R. – *The ruins of an ancient Xaya city is discovered near the city-state of Viana in the Firemyst Jungles. The city is soon overrun by a great dome of magical darkness and becomes the Umbral Dome. Later that year a band of heroes known as the Eternal Embers destroy the evil witch inside the Umbral Dome, shattering the dome of darkness. The ancient city ruins can again be explored by explorers and historians.
671 G.R. – *The free-city of Kulderon is nearly destroyed by a great magical explosion. The Eternal Embers are praised as heroes for stopping an influx of demodands from overrunning the city and stopping an evil cult from creating a permanent portal to the Tarterian Depths of Carceri, the plane of eternal prisons.
676 G.R. – The Church of the Trinity and the Templar Knights claim control over Korenell from the weak monarchy. King Umbrar Kassintius remains a decadent, petty ruler as the Church of the Trinity performs more and more of the day-to-day functioning of the theocratic kingdom.
689 G.R. – Tensions between Korenell and the Empire of Arathkelsara grow as outsiders enter the Kelsarian deserts to explore and plunder the newly unearthed ancient Arathian ruins and pyramids. Goblins begin to increase their presence and attacks around the Golbez Mountains and a many feel a war with the goblinoids of Dragmore is brewing.
691 G.R. (557 H.R.) – Campaign begins.
